“Nerds like us are allowed to be unironically enthusiastic about stuff. Nerds are allowed to love stuff, like jump-up-and-down-in-the-chair-can’t-control-yourself love it… When people call people nerds, mostly what they’re saying is ‘you like stuff.’ Which is just not a good insult at all. Like, ‘you are too enthusiastic about the miracle of human consciousness’.” - John Green

"Nothing is 'mere'." - Richard Feynman

"Why does any kind of cynicism appeal to people? Because it seems like a mark of maturity, of sophistication, like you’ve seen everything and know better. Or because putting something down feels like pushing yourself up." - HJPEV

In recent years, I have embraced a certain kind of naiveté in my philosophy. Growing up, I was a natural cynic, pedant, and misanthropist. I have worked hard to scour my brain of all this. I now have a deeply unironic, unapologetic, and earnest enthusiasm for life, the future, humanity, rationality, and the truth. Oh, and math! I’d like to share a bit of that enthusiasm with you.

My topics of interest broadly include philosophy, science, mathematics, and artificial intelligence. I have a BS in mathematics and I’m working towards my MS in computer science. I’m a physicalist, transhumanist, utilitarian, effective altruist, and econoliterate libertarian. And a Bayesian, obviously. I hope you enjoy!
